Kay County Emergency Management has scheduled a countywide outdoor warning siren test. Sirens will sound across Ponca City and nearby communities during the announced window.
Officials asked that residents not call dispatch during the test. They encouraged households to use the test as a prompt to review a severe weather plan and confirm that a second source of alerts, such as a weather radio or phone alerts, is working.
Outdoor sirens are intended to warn people who are outside and are not designed to be heard indoors.
